As Director of Operations for The Newcastle & North of England Law Society, I am responsible for the day-to-day management and strategic development of the Society, supporting its continued growth and engagement with the legal profession across the North of England.

Following the Society’s expansion and amalgamation in 2026, my role encompasses a broad range of operational, commercial and relationship-management responsibilities, including:

• Society Management & Operations – overseeing the day-to-day running of the Society, supporting the President, Standing Committee and wider membership, and ensuring the effective delivery of the Society’s activities and objectives.
• Membership & Engagement – managing and developing the Society’s membership, strengthening relationships with member firms and ensuring that members receive meaningful opportunities, benefits, information and engagement across the region.
• Business Development & Partnerships – identifying and developing new opportunities to grow the Society’s profile, reach and commercial relationships within the legal and wider professional community.
• Sponsorship & Commercial Relationships – developing and managing the Society’s sponsorship programme, building long-term relationships with sponsors and partners and creating opportunities for organisations to engage with and support the legal community.
• Events & Seminars – planning, organising and hosting a diverse programme of professional, educational and social events, including the Annual Law Dinner, lectures, seminars, forums, area lunches, charity events and specialist initiatives such as the Society’s Legal Tech programme.
• Stakeholder & Relationship Management – working closely with law firms, solicitors, universities, legal organisations, professional advisers, sponsors and other stakeholders across the North of England to develop collaborative opportunities and strengthen the Society’s regional presence.
• Communications & Promotion – overseeing communications and promotional activity across LinkedIn, newsletters, publications and other channels to raise the profile of the Society, its members, partners and events.
• Strategic Initiatives – supporting the development of new initiatives that respond to the changing needs of the profession, including legal technology, AI, professional development, networking and cross-regional collaboration.
• Governance & Administration – supporting the President and Standing Committee, coordinating meetings and governance processes, preparing papers and communications, and ensuring the smooth administration of the Society.

The Society has a long and proud history, having been established in 1826. Following its expansion in 2026, The Newcastle & North of England Law Society represents solicitors and engages with the legal community across Newcastle, Northumberland, County Durham, Tyne & Wear, Cumbria and the Tees Valley.
