John Bates

John is a Senior Lecturer at Northumbria Law School

He qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and in 2002 became a partner in a regional law firm.  He has extensive litigation and advocacy experience and is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

He joined the Law School in 2008 and teaches both under-graduate and post-graduate modules. HIs subject areas are Tort, Civil Dispute Resolution, Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury litigation.  He also leads a module on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and the Law.

He has a Pg Cert in Academic and Professional Learning and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is currently Programme Leader for the LLB (Hons) with Business and LLB (Hons) with International Business programmes.
