Main purposes of role

  1. Undertake fee earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the work of the department.
  2. Ensure the successful development of the firm in line with the business plan.
  3. Undertake all fee earning work in line with the firms risk management strategies.

Key tasks (not an exhaustive list)

  1. Conduct of matters on behalf of clients to include personal and telephone attendance.
  2. Supervision of fee earning work undertaken by colleagues.
  3. Management of support services for which (s)he is responsible, including supervision of own secretary.
  4. Participation in marketing activities whether on a firm wide, departmental or office basis.
  5. Financial control with particular regard to cashflow control through collection of monies on account and billing procedures.
  6. Undertake any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development.
  7. Ensure the confidentiality of all the firm’s and clients documentation and information.
  8. Ensure compliance across all areas of work to include anti-money laundering regulations & anti fraud measures.

Key skills, knowledge and experience required

  1. High level of technical knowledge in relevant area of law
  2. To be able to deliver client care to a very high level
  3. To be able to work to deadlines and under pressure
  4. Sound knowledge of regulatory framework
  5. To be able to supervise junior staff where appropriate
