ABOUT THE ROLE

We are recruiting for two Clinical Supervising Lawyers to work in the Student Law Office.  

In the role of Clinical Supervising Lawyer, as a qualified Solicitor or Barrister you will provide legal advice and representation to Student Law Office clients, supervise students in the Student Law Office who are assigned to cases for which you are responsible and perform appropriate Law Firm related administrative tasks within the Student Law Office. This will include effective delegation to students, checking student work before clients receive legal advice, regular meetings with students, including appraisal meetings and updating academic staff via student appraisal comments.

We welcome applications from solicitors with expertise across a broad range of legal disciplines.  In particular,  we are keen to hear from candidates who specialise in employment law or civil disputes.  Please note that our current recruitment focus is outside the areas of family and criminal law.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Northumbria Law School is one of the largest law schools in the UK. It ranked fifth for staff returned to REF2021 and 7th when measured by research power. Its long-term record for innovation and excellence in legal education is exemplified by its multi award winning Student Law office. The Student Law Office now includes a team of Clinical Supervising Lawyers of which you will form part, working alongside academic staff in the Law School and aligned support staff from Academic Registry. 
 

ABOUT YOU

As a Clinical Supervising Lawyer you will have recent and sustained experience of working as a Solicitor or Barrister in areas relevant to the activities of the Student Law Office. All areas of legal practice will be considered. You will have a Good Honours degree in Law (at least 2:1) or equivalent. You will currently hold, or ability to obtain, a practising certificate as a Solicitor or Barrister. You will have a track-record of continuous personal development.
