The President's Newsletter - July 2025

The President's Newsletter - July 2025

As we head into the summer break June has been a very busy month. Indeed, I have taken part in a number of Law Society events as President.

On the 6th June I had the pleasure of hosting Joe Morris MP at the Hexham Area visit at which time we spoke about a number of issues affecting solicitors in the area which Joe has agreed to take up on our behalf. It was great to see so many solicitors in attendance from across Northumberland.

On the 11th June I had the privilege of attending the Retired Solicitors lunch at Newcastle Falcons Rugby ground and meeting up with many of our retired solicitor members of the society. It was lovely to speak to many former solicitors and district judges who were reflecting on their fantastic legal careers in practice and how they were now enjoying their retirement.

On the 26th June I had the pleasure of hosting my Presidents Summer Party at Wylam Brewery in Newcastle. The evening featured a charity raffle, which raised a fantastic £1,938 in support of my chosen charity Child Brain Injury Trust. The event was generously sponsored by NWG Property Solutions, Temple Legal Protection Limited, and Amiqus, whose contributions helped make the evening possible.

I was very proud to introduce Emma Pilling, Fundraising Manager at Child Brain injury Trust on the night who shared her own personal story and shared powerful insights into the challenges families face after a childhood-acquired brain injury, and the critical support the charity provides. As someone who works closely with families affected by brain injury, I know just how vital the Child Brain Injury Trust’s work is. It’s an honour to support them throughout the year and to see our North East legal community come together so generously at our Summer Party.
