Returning to the Profession?

As part as our commitment to improving diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, we are setting up a mentoring scheme for returners to the profession.

There are many reasons why people might choose to take some time away from work but it can sometimes be a daunting prospect thinking about how you can return, especially if you are not familiar with the area or are out of touch with your previous contacts. However, the skills you have already developed will still be in demand. We hope our mentoring scheme might provide some welcome assistance when it comes to getting back into the profession.

Who can we engage with? – The scheme is designed for people who have been admitted as a solicitor. You do not need to have a current practising certificate but you should reside or intend to work in the north-east of England, most particularly in the counties of Tyne and Wear, Northumberland or Durham.

How will the session be conducted and how long will it last? It will most likely be online via TEAMS or ZOOM and the initial meeting will last up to 1 hour.

If you are interested in finding out more about our mentoring scheme please email us

We are recruiting - If you are already a member of Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society and would be interested in volunteering to mentor a returner to the profession please get in touch.  We will be happy to supply more information about our new scheme.
