PRESIDENT'S NEWSLETTER - OCTOBER 2025
As we head into the busy Autumn period, I would like to personally thank each and every Law Society member for their continued support. It is important to stress that without your continued support and engagement that we would not be able to provide the range of events, seminars and conferences that we hold. We have also done a lot behind the scenes to engage with new and existing sponsors to ensure that we can expand and grow the services and support we provide.
During September we had a number of events that I attended as your President. Including on the 17th September when I had the great pleasure of attending the Durham Law School Alumni Association annual dinner in Durham in the Great Hall of Castle. As part of the event, I had a private viewing of the Magna Carta and the exhibition at Durham Cathedral which I would recommend to anyone. Seeing this important document which first set out the rule of law was quite humbling. Other special guests attending included Richard Atkinson the National President of The Law Society.
On the 25th of September we held another one of our Managing Partners Forums kindly hosted at DAC Beachcroft’s offices at Bank House in the Pilgrim Street area of Newcastle which is undertaking so much redevelopment in the city at the moment. We welcomed our guest speakers John Hyde, Deputy News Editor of The Law Society Gazette and Eve Slater, Development Officer for The Access to Justice Foundation who both provided some interesting areas for discussion.
We still have a number of important events coming up including:
Thursday 9th October – Burnetts and Park Lane Plowden Chambers Quiz night at One Strawberry Place in aid of my charity of the year Child Brain Injury Trust. Playing for the Mike Stubbs memorial shield in memory of Mike Stubbs practice director at Park Lane Plowden.
