Newcastle Law Society supports the Newcastle Hospitals Charity
Going further for our hospitals, with Newcastle Hospitals Charity
Pledging a gift in a Will is one of the greatest honours a charity can receive. Thanks to the kindness of people who support us with a bequest, we enhance the experience of our patients, families and staff long into the future. Gifts in Wills make an enormous difference and help us plan the long-term. We are delighted to be working with Newcastle Law Society for National Pro Bono Week to encourage people to make a pledge, for any amount – every gift makes an enormous difference.
Our goal at Newcastle Hospitals Charity is to make a positive impact in our hospitals. We proudly support patients, staff and the wider communities of Newcastle Hospitals, and fund a range of initiatives – from cutting edge cancer research, to innovative medical equipment and ward refurbishments. Over the last year we have been proud to commit over £9.5m to over 700 diverse projects, including the purchase of a new surgical robotics system, the building of two private Havens for families of patients receiving end-of-life-care and supporting the UK’s leading bowel cancer research project.
One pledger has decided to show her gratitude for the care her mother received: “I want my gift to be part of a future where more people can benefit from the outstanding care, expertise, and compassion that we were fortunate enough to experience. It is my sincere wish that this gift will help sustain their mission for years to come, ensuring that their life-changing treatments continue to touch lives in the same way it has touched mine and my mother’s.”
A couple have pledged a gift to help find more effective ways to detect and treat cancer, through the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation: “The team in the Sir Bobby Centre are second to none. Every member of staff there is professional, caring and friendly. It might sound strange but they’re like family. We felt really valued on every visit.”
Ophthalmology is one of the busiest departments at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary, with around 100,000 patients per year visiting for tests to their eyes. Thanks to gifts in Wills, the department has been able to purchase the latest new imaging technology and laser equipment, reducing the need for invasive treatment such as injections.
We are excited to work with you to make pledging a gift in a Will as easy as possible, across all medical specialisms and departments. Each and every gift will have an impact long into the future and will directly impact on the health of people in our hospitals now and in the future.
