Child Brain Injury Trust - Charity of the Year
Newcastle Upon Tyne Law Society Names Child Brain Injury Trust as Charity of the Year
Newcastle, 30 June 2025 — The Newcastle Upon Tyne Law Society has officially selected the Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) as its Charity of the Year, marking the beginning of a meaningful partnership to raise awareness and vital funds for children and families affected by childhood-acquired brain injury.
The first fundraising event under this new collaboration was the highly anticipated President’s Summer Party, held on Thursday, 26th June. Hosted by Paul Brown, President of Newcastle Law Society and Partner & Brain Injury Lead at Burnetts Solicitors, the event brought together legal professionals from across the region in a celebration of community and purpose.
The evening featured a charity raffle, which raised a remarkable £1,938 in support of CBIT’s mission to elevate families and enrich futures. The event was generously sponsored by NWG Property Solutions, Temple Legal Protection Limited, and Amiqus, whose contributions helped make the evening a resounding success.
Emma Pilling, Fundraising Manager at CBIT, attended the event and addressed the room, sharing powerful insights into the challenges families face after a childhood-acquired brain injury, and the critical support CBIT provides.
“The support from Newcastle Upon Tyne Law Society is both humbling and incredibly meaningful,” said Emma Pilling. “Every pound raised helps us be there for children when they need us most, whether that’s through specialist support in schools, family guidance after discharge from hospital, or simply being a trusted voice during times of uncertainty. We are so grateful for this partnership.”
Paul Brown, speaking as both President of the Society and a legal professional with a deep understanding of the effects of brain injury, added:
“As someone who works closely with families affected by brain injury, I know just how vital the Child Brain Injury Trust’s work is. It’s an honour to choose Child Brain Injury Trust as my Presidents charity of the year, support them throughout this year and to see our community come together so generously at our Summer Party. This is just the beginning, as we look forward to continuing our fundraising efforts and championing the life-changing work Child Brain Injury Trust does every day.”
