We have pleasure in inviting our Managing Partners & Heads of Office to the 8th Forum on Thursday 1st of May from 12.00pm – 2.00pm which will be hosted by our 199th President, Paul Brown, Partner at Burnetts. This will take place at Sintons Law, Barrack Road, Newcastle NE4 6DB, a sandwich lunch (with vegetarian options) will be provided.
Topic for discussion - The SRA’s regulation inspection regime
Navigating SRA regulations can be complex and non-compliance can have serious consequences. As it is currently a hot topic, we have invited Graham MacKenzie, Director of AML & Economic Crime Risk at Amiqus to discuss this with our Managing Partners and Heads of Office.
Graham was formally Head of AML at the Law Society of Scotland and the AML supervisor for Scottish Solicitors. Across his 8 years at the Society, Graham was a member of the Legal Sector Affinity Group (LSAG) and chaired the group responsible for the extensive 2020 rewrite of the LSAG Guidance, the Treasury Approved AML guidance for the legal sector. Graham also authored extensive parts of the guidance in conjunction with colleagues at the SRA and the Law Society of England & Wales, and, as chair of the UK AML Supervisor’s forum, worked extensively with Government, law enforcement and other agencies in regard to UK-wide legal sector AML issues and risks.
