Navigating your Professional Indemnity Renewal

Overview and Speakers:  Marianne McWilliams, Vice President and John Pennie, Senior Vice President from Marsh have kindly agreed to deliver the above seminar as part of the Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society Education Programme.

This presentation will help members assess the risks they face and find ways of addressing or reducing those risks.  Marianne will share insights based on Marsh's regular direct dialogue with underwriters and examine the following:

the rationale behind some of the proposal form questions,  the hot topics facing the professional indemnity insurance market, claims, disciplinary matters, financial considerations, people risks and supervision, supervision and remote working, overseas, areas of focus for conveyancers and boutique firms, risk management & hot topics and emerging risks.

In addition John Pennie will outline the danger of a professional negligence claim in the instance that a solicitor hasn’t adequately explored the availability of After the Event Insurance (ATE), which involves insuring against the risk of adverse costs being awarded against your client and highlight some recent developments in this field.
