Description

The Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society was established in 1826 and has circa 800 solicitor members  based in the north-east of England. We are a company limited by guarantee and celebrate our 200th anniversary in 3 years time. The successful candidate will have some familiarity with the legal profession and will work closely with our President. Duties vary on a day to day, week to week and year to year basis but will include:

  • Arranging Standing Committee Meetings, AGM and responsible for Companies House compliance in conjunction with our Treasurer and Accountant
  • Working with and supervising our Administrator
  • Identifying and assisting with the responses to consultations
  • Collating articles for the bi-monthly digital magazine
  • Liaison with sponsors
  • Development of website
  • Data Protection and insurances
  • Social Events including the Annual Law Dinner
  • Dealing with Enquiries from members of the public and profession
  • Seminars and lectures
  • Keeper of our Historical Information
  • Setting priorities

There can be an element of flexibility as to hours and holidays. Some remote working can be accommodated but there will also be on site attendance. This role could suit a retired solicitor or other professional looking for a change in direction or a person working around child care or caring commitments and comes with the ability to control your work/life balance. Assistance will be provided in the transitional period.
